Founding Fathers Black Hills

Going up, up, up

We’re excited to see the clock tower and steeple that will soon be lifted into place at Independence Hall: Home of the Founding Fathers south of Rapid City, as construction crews work to meet our June 1 opening plans. Once the steeple is in place, the building’s height will stretch an impressive 125 feet into the air!

The exterior of the building will soon have an historic brick look, as panels of distressed brick siding transform the new building into a reproduction of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. You can see the finished result on the back of the building. Inside, construction worker Jack Meier works in the newly sheet-rocked exhibit hall, where 47 original sculptures of many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence will soon reside.

Please drive by the construction site at 9815 S. Highway 16, just past the geodosic dome of Reptile Gardens, to check out our progress, and come see us when we open in the summer of 2014 in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota!

The brick exterior is going on the rear of the building now.
